Pathfinder: End of Westerners in Tian Xia

Exploring the hellish fortress maze of Rubicante proved too much for the heroes. Separated, each member found a foe that they could not defeat, whether regenerating asuras, wish giving contract devils or hardened iron doors.

Varis used his summoning spells to stall two asura adhukaits. Erynor and Rook encountered a Bone Devil. As they started to deplete their resources, the fetchling ninja made a deal with a nearby Contract Devil. He signed away his soul in exchange for wishes that would empower the group and save them from the imminent threats. However, the devil's wishes were twisted with altered, usually detrimental effects.

In the end, the cleric of Rubicante found them in the city of Lanming with a host of monsters and killed them. Erynor, seeing his chances of survival nonexistent, joined the cultists but was mercilessly killed by mimics.

Pathfinder: Rubicante's Maze, Part 1

After defeating Pirate Captain Locke, the Unassuming Wolves searched the ship for treasures. They found an assortment of gold, jewels and other items. While checking the lower deck, the other ship sunk via an explosion.

Landing at the port town of Bal Ma, the heroes docked their ship and checked out the weapon and armor smiths, almost attempting to steal from them.

When they returned to Lanming, they went to the Pathfinder Society chapter house, were rewarded by Dorune, and slept. The next day, the dwarf paladin gave them a scroll quest from the mayor of Bal Ma. It asked for help concerning the cult of Rubicante, a Malebranche, or lesser king of Hell. They spent time preparing for their next adventure, buying and selling things at a halfing trader's shop and making potions.

Heading south, they encountered an encampment of cultists and spoke with their leader, Aleksion Coric. The party was affected by countless debilitation spells and thrown into the hellish dungeon, separated by the magic of the cleric of Rubicante.

In the dungeon, Rubicante's Maze, the party each met Pialoosa Tealeaf, Pirate Captain, who was split into three equal forms. Together with the pirate, they separately navigated the dungeon, fighting its devilish denizens and trying to avoid the many traps set in its hot walls.

Pathfinder: Open Seas 2

The Unassuming Wolves (temporary party name) resumed their voyage across the sea, trying to return to Lanming, Quain. Rook used the Pathfinder Medallion to find their way.

The ship took them to a deserted island, where they found a campfire. The fire was made with fey stones and inside the embers was a metal symbol of Hell. Erynor and Varis used their arcana and learned that they could disable whatever spells were trapped by the campfire by moving the stone or the symbol. After doing so, a nuckelavee and four hell hounds appeared from their separate dimensions. Varis was afflicted by Mortasheen, a disease targeting constitution and making the summoner fatigued.

When they defeated the fey and hell outsiders, the island began to disappear. After leaving the disappearing island, they went out to sea and sailed for a few days. They managed to cure Varis' disease and were beset upon by the pirate captain Isabella Locke and Lieutenant Gortus Svard. Pathfinder: Seething Hills, Part 2 and 3

After defeating the Spirit Naga, the party found a large lake within the Seething Hills. Located in its southern half was a binding circle keeping some creature contained beneath the water. Rook jumped across the waters, fastened a rope, and Jergling followed suit. Erynor and Varis had trouble swimming across, even with the aid of the rope.

They encountered a Shaitan, who told them to leave her cave, and were assaulted by an Invisible Stalker lurking deeper in the cave. After, they tried to cross the water again, but were attacked by water elementals.
The elementals waited until they were holding onto the ropes before they struck. The heroes ran to the shore, and the water creatures submerged themselves.

The heroes had a few options in how to proceed in the cave. They could harass the Shaitan earth genie again, uncover the magic and free the creature of the binding circle, or descend down the waterfall of the lake.

Jergling jumped down and died, or rather, was sent back to the summoning realm. They decided this was not the best course of action. Crossing the lake again, they were attacked by the same water elementals. Defeating these enemies, revealed the Dragon Turtle, the creature bound by the magical circle. It asked for help to free it.

Sea cats, a strange mix of cat and fish, emerged from the depths, causing Varis to summon an assortment of creatures. Afterwards, the Dragon Turtle said it would help them find the pirates in the cave, and also asked them to dispatch the genie in the southern cave.

After leaving the Dragon Temple with Kaliara, the party camped in a forest clearing. The kitsune oracle's condition worsened from her coma, however she awoke before her death to speak with Erynor. The goddess Daikitsu, appearing as a nine tailed fox, took her priestess and cured Rook after a frank request from Varis.

Silently traveling with Shalash, the party reached Lanming, the capital of Quain, where they separated with their newly reunited Cavalier turned Samurai.

They scouted a shop in the less traffic district in Lanming with the intent to steal things but were rebuffed by security measures, met with the Pathfinder Society chapter house and its dwarf member Dorune, and took a break to recover from their defeat and loss. The party checked the quests at the chapter house, and took on a quest to defeat a group of pirates in the Seething Hills.

PF: Return to the Dragon Temple

Before leaving, Erynor cast discover door to search for a secret door as they exited the temple. Jergling and Varis used create pit to get past an obstacle once they found a secret door, uncovering a secret cache of treasure.

The party left the Temple of the Whispering Spider only to find the vanara monks slain by something. In their path was a samurai wearing blue armor. A shot from Varis knocked off his helmet revealing Shalash who was unable to acknowledge them. The party believed that he was summoning creatures from the forest to attack them. After defeating the monsters including a Hodag and a pair of Tatzylwyrms, they took down Shalash breaking the spell placed on him.

He had no recollection of what happened to him or how he got his weapons and armor.  The undine tagged along to greet Kaliara at the Dragon Temple. However, when they reached the temple, there were corpses of monks and fighters strewn about, along with large spiders.  The leader of the spiders is Lady Shezuo, a Jorogumo that was imprisoned in the Temple of the Whispering Spider.

For freeing her and her children, Lady Shezuo gave the party Kaliara, and told them to leave. They tried the potion that the Mercane gave them to the kitsune oracle but were unable to revive her. Believing Lady Shezuo was responsible, Rook tried to "diplomacize" with her but his words led to a battle due to his lack of tact.

Erynor, Rook, Varis and Jergling managed to slay many of the large spiders but they weren't able to damage Lady Shezuo. After Rook fell, the spider woman gave them a decision, either leave or Rook would perish. Erynor reluctantly took the deal, and as they were escorted out of the temple, Lady Shezuo bestowed a curse on the unconscious Rook.

Pathfinder: Temple of the Whispering Spider, Part 3

Spider Eater
No More Spiders?

The party descended to the second level of the Temple of the Whispering Spider in order to find a way to cure Kaliara.

They entered a room and found a Spider Eater, a predator of spiders lurking in a corner. With quick attacks they were able to defeat it without it doing much damage.

In another room they found a treasure chest but after Rook flipped a hidden switch in a barrel, a pit appeared beneath the chest. Luckily, Erynor's reflexes saved him from the fall.

Jergling smelled the scent of garbage, and the party noticed two barrels filled with some kind of creature. Rook does an acrobatic movement to hurl one of the barrels and jump back, unleashing 1000s of the cockroaches. Erynor's bombs decimated the swarm, while the rest of the party's attacks seemed to do no damage.

Cockroach Swarm
They found a shrine maiden named Mei Yu trapped in a room, legs chained to a chair. She said that she was sent as a sacrifice to the spider temple and was dying of hunger. Blood stained her waist. Magical moonlight cascaded down from the ceiling. Varis switched a trigger that was supposed to free her, but instead caused the moonlight to shine upon the woman. Her flesh decayed and aged, and her torso ripped free as she transformed into a Manananngal. The undead creature resisted their attacks and grappled with Rook stealing away his constitution. Eventually, they were able to defeat the monster.

Finally, in the last room of the temple, a portal appeared revealing a Mercane, an extraplanar merchant willing to sell them goods. They refused to purchase his goods, but caved in to buy a heart shaped vial filled with red liquid, something the Mercane promised would heal the affliction placed on Kaliara.

Pathfinder: Temple of the Whispering Spider, Part 2

The party continued their exploration of the Temple of the Whispering Spider. During the day, Varis experimented with his new magic including creating pits, enlarging Rook and casting haste.

Varis created a pit using magic against a Shae. Erynor threw a bomb down at the female shadow.

Erynor was attacked by a phase spider while examining a treasure chest. He managed to dodge its bite. They also encountered an Ogre Spider, but with Rook growing giant from Varis' magic, and Jergling's support.

Checking the last room in the first floor, they found an Aghash that screamed at them. It seemed to be very strong against the players' attacks but couldn't deal enough damage back to pose a threat.

They slept but Rook and Erynor were awakened by a knock at the door. They decided not to investigate. In the morning, Rook walked into a web, and the party was attacked by an Aranea.

Pathfinder Day 8: Run through the Eryiu Forest

After learning the whereabouts of the curse affecting Kaliara, the party ventured east to the Temple of the Whispering Spider. They had to pass through the Eryiu Forest.

Erynor created antitoxins and vermin repellent to help with the spiders and other vermin they would encounter. At the entrance to the forest they met an old forest spirit name Fukujin, a tiny old man with a branch growing out of his head. He asked for a donation to the two kami statues he protected, the shikigami who in turn protected the forest from evil spirits. They group paid 60 gold to the pair for good luck.

They encountered a tiger that didn't attack them. After crossing a river, a group of treacherous bandits assaulted Varis and took him down unsummoning Jergling. When they had recovered from the attack, a Forest Drake descended upon them drawn in by their repellent.

Deeper in the forest they met a group of Vanara, monkey people sworn to seal the Temple of the Whispering Spider. Not wanting to fight against good aligned creatures, the party decided to run through. Erynor threw flash powder to try to blind the defenders. Kech archers fired at them from the treetops.

Inside the temple, Rook triggered an acid arrow trap but managed to dodge it. They fought a shadow creature called a Shae, a female made of darkness and cold. Jergling and Rook managed to flank her and pierce through her shadowy protection.

Finally, the party encountered a Yuki-Onna, a snow maiden. Ignorant of the legends of such a creature, Rook entered her snowstorm to try to converse with her. The spirit managed to take down Rook and Erynor before the alchemist's explosive bomb and Varis' attacks defeated her.

The party encountered a dilapidated shack in the middle of the woods. They attacked a pair of poachers who had just hauled in a treasure chest. After defeating the poachers, Erynor tried to open the chest but it turned out to be a mimic.

They followed the path further south and found the Dragon Temple of Quain, where many aspirants and other travelers go to participate in battle training and martial arts. Pathfinder: Underneath Goka, Day 4

The group encountered an Allip at the end of the sewer. Jergling used his scent of smell to detect creatures through the caves and sewers. Descending further in the sewers, they reached a natural cavern beneath Goka.
They fought a pair of goblin snakes, one of which said that he was a divine being, a leader of goblins. Rook did not accept the creature’s superiority. They battled other creatures in the cave, including a group of corbies, muscular raven men, and a huecuva, an undead creature.
Rook found a jagged crystal protruding from the ground. When he tried to extract it, it turned out to be the tail of a Crysmal. Kaliara continued to show affection for Varis and Erynor.
The heroes decided to take a rest in the corner of the cave before going further in the cave.

Pathfinder: Goka, Undercity Day 3

Catfolk

The party descended into the sewers to run away from Lord Peridus, leader of the Iomedae faction in Tian Xia. After defeating a pair of festrogs, they negotiated with groups of ratfolk and catfolk. They had nearly passed through, deciding to go along the catfolk’s territory, but Varis didn’t want to pay the toll. The catfolk attacked and the ratfolk joined in, trying to take advantage of the situation and superior numbers.
Ratfolk
Deeper in the sewer, they encountered a cerebric fungus, a plant creature that was dispatched easily. They also dealt with a pack of flumphs and a foo dog, both groups trying to determine whether the party was evil or not, as the errant creatures were good aligned. They managed to convince the foo dog, however the flumphs were convinced that Varis bad dreams meant he was an evil creature.

Balenar Forsend offered them passage across the ocean and board in any Pathfinder Society chapter house, especially the one in Goka in Tian Xia.

Kaliara
Reaching these foreign shores, the party found another massive city. The Chapter House was bare and dilapidated, with a grumpy old dwarf as its steward. They encountered racism based on their western roots, and tried to find work in a tavern. They heard a scream and noticed that Shalash was missing. Outside of the tavern, they found the Cavalier protecting the Oracle Kaliara against members of the Iomedae Faction.
