Pathfinder: Open Seas 2

The Unassuming Wolves (temporary party name) resumed their voyage across the sea, trying to return to Lanming, Quain. Rook used the Pathfinder Medallion to find their way.

The ship took them to a deserted island, where they found a campfire. The fire was made with fey stones and inside the embers was a metal symbol of Hell. Erynor and Varis used their arcana and learned that they could disable whatever spells were trapped by the campfire by moving the stone or the symbol. After doing so, a nuckelavee and four hell hounds appeared from their separate dimensions. Varis was afflicted by Mortasheen, a disease targeting constitution and making the summoner fatigued.

When they defeated the fey and hell outsiders, the island began to disappear. After leaving the disappearing island, they went out to sea and sailed for a few days. They managed to cure Varis' disease and were beset upon by the pirate captain Isabella Locke and Lieutenant Gortus Svard. The party defeated the Shaitan they encountered in the cave. She planar shifted and swore to tell her brothers about them.

After speaking with Porosen, the elderly turtle, they went into the water and were dragged into the depths. They woke up on a pirate ship, defeated the crew, who was going to sell them as slaves.

Searching the ship, they discovered some valuables and tried to enter the lower deck.  However, with poor climbing both Jergling and Rook fell into the waters. Varis threw the anchor to stop the ship.

Two dragons appeared, blue imperial sea dragons, who assumed the group were pirates
Unable to prove their innocence, the dragons attacked using their breath weapons of water and flame as well as a flurry of strikes. Erynor, while proving inadequate with diplomacy, kept the dragons staggered with his frost bombs.

Pathfinder: Seething Hills, Part 2 and 3

After defeating the Spirit Naga, the party found a large lake within the Seething Hills. Located in its southern half was a binding circle keeping some creature contained beneath the water. Rook jumped across the waters, fastened a rope, and Jergling followed suit. Erynor and Varis had trouble swimming across, even with the aid of the rope.

They encountered a Shaitan, who told them to leave her cave, and were assaulted by an Invisible Stalker lurking deeper in the cave. After, they tried to cross the water again, but were attacked by water elementals.
The elementals waited until they were holding onto the ropes before they struck. The heroes ran to the shore, and the water creatures submerged themselves.

The heroes had a few options in how to proceed in the cave. They could harass the Shaitan earth genie again, uncover the magic and free the creature of the binding circle, or descend down the waterfall of the lake.

Jergling jumped down and died, or rather, was sent back to the summoning realm. They decided this was not the best course of action. Crossing the lake again, they were attacked by the same water elementals. Defeating these enemies, revealed the Dragon Turtle, the creature bound by the magical circle. It asked for help to free it.

Sea cats, a strange mix of cat and fish, emerged from the depths, causing Varis to summon an assortment of creatures. Afterwards, the Dragon Turtle said it would help them find the pirates in the cave, and also asked them to dispatch the genie in the southern cave.

Pathfinder: Separation and the Seething Hills

After leaving the Dragon Temple with Kaliara, the party camped in a forest clearing. The kitsune oracle's condition worsened from her coma, however she awoke before her death to speak with Erynor. The goddess Daikitsu, appearing as a nine tailed fox, took her priestess and cured Rook after a frank request from Varis.

Silently traveling with Shalash, the party reached Lanming, the capital of Quain, where they separated with their newly reunited Cavalier turned Samurai.

They scouted a shop in the less traffic district in Lanming with the intent to steal things but were rebuffed by security measures, met with the Pathfinder Society chapter house and its dwarf member Dorune, and took a break to recover from their defeat and loss. The party checked the quests at the chapter house, and took on a quest to defeat a group of pirates in the Seething Hills.

The next day, the party traveled to the Seething Hills in southeastern Quain. They encountered a shadowy Belker who tried to enter their bodies in smoke form, and found a treasure chest in the darkness of the caverns. However, opening the treasure caused a Spirit Naga to attack them.

PF: Return to the Dragon Temple

Before leaving, Erynor cast discover door to search for a secret door as they exited the temple. Jergling and Varis used create pit to get past an obstacle once they found a secret door, uncovering a secret cache of treasure.

The party left the Temple of the Whispering Spider only to find the vanara monks slain by something. In their path was a samurai wearing blue armor. A shot from Varis knocked off his helmet revealing Shalash who was unable to acknowledge them. The party believed that he was summoning creatures from the forest to attack them. After defeating the monsters including a Hodag and a pair of Tatzylwyrms, they took down Shalash breaking the spell placed on him.

He had no recollection of what happened to him or how he got his weapons and armor.  The undine tagged along to greet Kaliara at the Dragon Temple. However, when they reached the temple, there were corpses of monks and fighters strewn about, along with large spiders.  The leader of the spiders is Lady Shezuo, a Jorogumo that was imprisoned in the Temple of the Whispering Spider.

For freeing her and her children, Lady Shezuo gave the party Kaliara, and told them to leave. They tried the potion that the Mercane gave them to the kitsune oracle but were unable to revive her. Believing Lady Shezuo was responsible, Rook tried to "diplomacize" with her but his words led to a battle due to his lack of tact.

Erynor, Rook, Varis and Jergling managed to slay many of the large spiders but they weren't able to damage Lady Shezuo. After Rook fell, the spider woman gave them a decision, either leave or Rook would perish. Erynor reluctantly took the deal, and as they were escorted out of the temple, Lady Shezuo bestowed a curse on the unconscious Rook.

Pathfinder: Temple of the Whispering Spider, Part 3

Spider Eater
No More Spiders?

The party descended to the second level of the Temple of the Whispering Spider in order to find a way to cure Kaliara.

They entered a room and found a Spider Eater, a predator of spiders lurking in a corner. With quick attacks they were able to defeat it without it doing much damage.

In another room they found a treasure chest but after Rook flipped a hidden switch in a barrel, a pit appeared beneath the chest. Luckily, Erynor's reflexes saved him from the fall.

Jergling smelled the scent of garbage, and the party noticed two barrels filled with some kind of creature. Rook does an acrobatic movement to hurl one of the barrels and jump back, unleashing 1000s of the cockroaches. Erynor's bombs decimated the swarm, while the rest of the party's attacks seemed to do no damage.

Cockroach Swarm
They found a shrine maiden named Mei Yu trapped in a room, legs chained to a chair. She said that she was sent as a sacrifice to the spider temple and was dying of hunger. Blood stained her waist. Magical moonlight cascaded down from the ceiling. Varis switched a trigger that was supposed to free her, but instead caused the moonlight to shine upon the woman. Her flesh decayed and aged, and her torso ripped free as she transformed into a Manananngal. The undead creature resisted their attacks and grappled with Rook stealing away his constitution. Eventually, they were able to defeat the monster.

Finally, in the last room of the temple, a portal appeared revealing a Mercane, an extraplanar merchant willing to sell them goods. They refused to purchase his goods, but caved in to buy a heart shaped vial filled with red liquid, something the Mercane promised would heal the affliction placed on Kaliara.

Pathfinder: Temple of the Whispering Spider, Part 2

The party continued their exploration of the Temple of the Whispering Spider. During the day, Varis experimented with his new magic including creating pits, enlarging Rook and casting haste.

Varis created a pit using magic against a Shae. Erynor threw a bomb down at the female shadow.

Erynor was attacked by a phase spider while examining a treasure chest. He managed to dodge its bite. They also encountered an Ogre Spider, but with Rook growing giant from Varis' magic, and Jergling's support.

Checking the last room in the first floor, they found an Aghash that screamed at them. It seemed to be very strong against the players' attacks but couldn't deal enough damage back to pose a threat.

They slept but Rook and Erynor were awakened by a knock at the door. They decided not to investigate. In the morning, Rook walked into a web, and the party was attacked by an Aranea.
